Horchata is the name of several kinds of traditional beverages, made of ground almonds, sesame seeds, rice, barley, or tigernuts. Every ingredient will change depend where you live.

Ingredients

2 Cups Rice

3 Cups Water

3 Cups Milk

1/2 tablespoon Cinnamon

1/3 Cup Sugar

1/4 Tablespoon Vanilla

Ice

Directions

Soak the rice overnight in 3 cups of the water.

Add the rice, soaking water and cinnamon to a blender and puree until smooth, 2 or 3 minutes.

Strain into a pitcher through a fine-mesh sieve or several layers of cheesecloth.

There should be no grit or large particles in the liquid.

Stir in the remaining 3 cup milk , sugar and vanilla.

Add Sugar and Ice.
